Did you know?

Cycling is becoming more popular! The mileage cycled in the UK has increased by 20% over the past 15 years.

Gritty girl

Fancy a bit of grit with your glimmer? Get yourself this uber-badass set of wheels. The GHOST Lanao FS 4 is all the right amounts of rough and ready without losing its feminine slant. The ‘Miss Shape’ top tube is just one aspect we love about this awesome women’s-specific hardtail mountain bike. Looks pretty cool, too.

Make sure you’re seen

High-visibility clothing is essential while cycling – it’s better to be safe than sorry, after all. Which is where the Proviz Reflect360 Jacket comes in. Not only is it the world’s first to be designed using a 100 per cent reflective outer shell, it’ll also keep you warm and dry and offers multiple vents to help keep your body temperature regulated while you cycle. There are plenty of pockets for all your essentials, too – perfect!

Get involved

Fancy a challenge this spring? Whether you’re new to cycling or have been training for years, the Dorset Bike Ride on 26 April ticks all the right boxes. There are three routes to choose from – 25, 50 or 66 miles – and you’ll receive training advice and support to help you along the way. All funds raised go to the British Heart Foundation, plus all finishers get a medal! How can you resist?

Liz Blatchford is a member of Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team, fuelled by new, gold standard, sports-nutrition brand Etixx ( Here are her top tips for triathlon training:

  • Make it fun
Find sessions, training partners and groups that you enjoy. This will motivate you and in turn help you to improve while having a good time. Joining a local triathlon club is a great option.
  • Set goals
Enter a race that inspires you and train for it. It is much easier to train for something that motivates you than having no set goal.
  • Get a bike fit
For comfort, speed and injury prevention. You may end up spending a lot of time on your bike, so the fit is important.
