Dr Lindsey Hooke explains why women are prone to fatty build-up around the troublesome lower region.
1. The make-up of female hormones results in distribution of fat to these lower regions of the body – this deposition starts at a very young age.
2. The fat cells themselves in this area are larger, resulting in women being able to store a greater volume of fat.
3. Furthermore, unlike men, the fat in these areas of the body are not readily used as an energy source.
